Time for another one of these posts...
If we're going to play Guild Wars seriously, people need to chill the fuck out. Being serious means that you aren't joking around, but it also means that you are willing to learn from your mistakes and improve. This means that you can't just rage after one crappy GvG. No guild ever got good by playing one GvG and leaving. Not Evil, not Te, and not even Rawr. Rawr used to be a joke, but now they are one of the few top guilds. Don't just say it's a dead game, because they are doing a fuck of a lot better than us, dead game or not.
When we lose, we need to stop and figure out how we could've won. We already lost, so bitching about it won't help. The solution last night was to just split. It's that simple. Now next time we go up against 4 monks, we know to split. That's progress. Now we can proceed with the GvG.
Calling people bad does nothing. Nothing at all. If you really think that someone is unqualified to play, then post about it here or save it for after we're done. That way we can figure out how to deal with it in a way that doesn't disrupt the GvG.
Some of us, including me, quit the GvG after one match last night. Some of you were upset about that. But the GvG was no longer going to be PRODUCTIVE or FUN due to the negative energy. Everyone was pissed about the loss and everyone was calling each other bad. That accomplishes absolutely nothing. All it does is ruin the GvG. By the time we quit, the GvG was already ruined. Continuing it would have been futile.
That's why there needs to be a serious attitude adjustment here. Stop calling people bad and/or bitching about losses. There is no money at stake here. We don't even play AT's. So when we lose or fuck up, why do we get so worked up? It means nothing. Change the attitude and chill the fuck out.
If we plan to GvG seriously, people need to not get worked up about losses. They also need to stop the personal attacks. All this does is create negative energy and ruin the GvG. Instead, we need to take the losses with a grain of salt and then find out what we could have done differently to win the match. We haven't learned anything from our losses because we never discuss them or we just quit after them. That's why we're still terrible after ~3 months of off and on GvG.
To summarize the above, change the fucking attitude. No personal attacks, no bitching - just try to learn from our mistakes.
We need to run a meta build that works until we improve. We have learned time and time again that we get fucking rocked whenever we run a "fun" build. When we try to play a "fun" build, we're trying to invent our own play style instead of going off of a play style that has taken over 3 years to develop. With a meta build you can just look on obs mode and see how teams win with it.
Meta builds are not necessarily boring. Think back to when we used to play GW, all of us won with meta builds at some point and we still had fun doing it. Why can't we do that now? With a meta build just breaking the top 200 should be a piece of cake. No sweat. Top 100 should still be pretty damn easy. Top 50? May have to GvG a little more. Top 10? Well, if we're having fun, why not?
Basically what I'm saying is that we should be able to STOMP all these shitty teams that are over rank 100. We shouldn't have to be so focused on the game that it's boring. Let's just make a serious push up the ladder and if it's not fun, then we'll stop. But it we're not going to put any effort in, then we aren't going to get any results. Let's give it one shot. If it fails, we can quit knowing that we tried.
Another issue is that we need to get over our egos. We're not good anymore. Until we accept that, then we will never be able to improve.
Finally, if we're going to seriously GvG, we need to try to recruit some people. Playing with 6 is never going to work, and it takes WAY to long to find guests.
To summarize - stop bitching about losses and calling people bad. We need to start learning from our mistakes so that we can improve. The reason that we haven't gotten better at GW in the last 3 months is because we have never given it 100%. I'm suggesting that we should suck it up and give it everything we've got. Let's try to break top 100. If we decide that it's boring, then we can quit. If we like it, we can keep going. At least we know that we gave it a shot and we didn't pussy out of it.
This is not an unrealistic goal. Top 100 is NOTHING. We know that. If we just buckle down and make a serious push, than we will be top 100 in no time.
If we do get our act together and we enjoy GvGing, then it'll be just like old times. It would be awesome. When GW2 comes out, we'll be ready to own that up too. If we don't enjoy it, then again, at least we tried.
Come on guys, let's just give it one serious push. Stop dicking around and get better. I'm ready to quit GW again. The GvG/TA/Tombs we've done recently has been absolutely horrible. Let's just give it one last shot, and let's give it 100%. If we don't like it after making an honost effort, then we can quit. But let's not pussy out and quit before we've even tried to play the game for real.
Post thoughts please.
