Cute Cuddly Kittens [Purr] was formed in the Summer of 2006 by a few players from various backgrounds. It all started with a PUG group that had overwhelming success. After the PUG had finished, a few of the participants decided to form a guild of their own - the name chosen was Cute Cuddly Kittens [Purr].
The original members - Cid, mxf, DarkPyro, Chiizu, Guard of the Isles, Jack Eli, Tigre, Rust, and a few others - went on to dominate the competition for the weekend. In a matter of hours they climbed the ladder to the top 50. Their highly-splittable pressure build was unstoppable against any opponent. The build included 3 warriors, a blackout ranger, a domination mesmer, an elementalist runner, and 2 monks. A favorite tactic of the guild was to split the team into two groups of 4 and confuse the opposition. The build harnessed unconventional skills such as gale on a warrior, despite the fact that it had been nerfed almost a year before.
When the weekend ended, so did Purr's success. Members returned to the harsh reality of school and work. Guests had to be brought in for nearly every match, and Purr's rank suffered. The initial synergy of the group was lost. After dropping down to about rank 150, the guild members went their seperate ways. Fortunately Cid decided to hold on to the guild for posterity.
Following this, Purr saw very little activity. There was an occasional PUG on the guild, but not much else. By the Summer of '07, nearly a year after the first incarnation of Purr, Purr pugging became more regular. A regular group of PUGers emerged - including tca, Tweaked, and many others. Some former members like Jack Eli returned to play with the new group. This is considered the second incarnation of Purr.
The guild never became completely serious again until the beginning of 2008. By this time others members had joined the Purr group - Elroy, Goon, Samcobra, Kar, and some others. Mxf and Guard from the original Purr also made a return. This is where the third incarnation was formed.
That incarnation failed. Purr attempted to do serious GvG, but they lost too much and everyone quit. After that, the Purr members simply enjoyed each other's company and played other games like Day of Defeat Source and StarCraft. Around that time Mxf and Jack Eli met up to participate in the "purr mosh".
When summer started, the players from 3rd-gen Purr began to GvG again. The type of GvG varied greatly, at times completely serious and at other times far from it. To fill out the roster, Purr even tried to recruit off of the QQ forums. Recruiting proved to be fruitless, however. Around this time the Purr GW Alliance was formed.
Today Purr members GvG semi-regularly and continue to play other games like SC and DotA. #purr has also grown a notable amount since last year. Purr members are looking forward to the releases of SC2, D3, and GW2.
